Boxes Project Part 1

Back in June I purchased these three boxes at Goodwill to serve as containers for my summer fabric journal project. First I had to clean and detox the thrift store smell out of them, and make some quilted pieces to cover and line them, which I've been doing whenever I have some spare time.

I chose the smallest wooden box to work on first, as I already have my little beach memories spool journal that fits perfectly inside it.

Aside from the smell, the only real problem with this box was covering some writing (an old password, maybe?) on the inside of the lid.

I had a pretty piece of cardstock with the word BEACH on it, so I cut that and glued it over the writing. For the inside of the box I lined the bottom with a little silk, lace and bead quilted piece I made while experimenting on cover pieces.

I made this quilted art piece for the top of the lid, and hot-glued it in place.

The box is large enough to hold my spool journal and some trinkets (something like this would also make a nice ring or presentation box, too.) Very happy with how this one turned out.
