Spring Clean Bin Final Count

I've finally finished going through my stash, and in the end I was able to empty thirty bins, which I stacked up so I could take this atta-girl pic. One was filled with yarn, and three with old books, but the rest were packed with fabric and craft supplies. Mostly fabric, I'm sorry to say. What I decided to keep fit into five bins, which is still a lot, but way better than thirty. All of the unwanted fabric went to our local Goodwill, where I know a lot of quilters in the area do shop for fabric, so it has another chance to be made into something. I had them in a couple of project bags that I tucked away and never got back to. A brand new disappearing ink marker and a couple of old ones; also stashed with various old projects. I'll have to test the latter to make sure they still work. My old C...

Spring Bin Clean

Every year I try to do one major spring cleaning project; this year I have two: downsize and condense my fabric stash, and clean out the room above the garage so we can use it for furniture storage after Katherine graduates. Her apartment lease is up in July, and we won't be renewing it. We may not have to store anything if she goes to grad school and takes her furniture with her, but that's still up in the air. Over the last week this is how much I've gotten done: The full bin on the left is what I'm keeping, and the seven empties on the right are what I've donated to Goodwill so far (and they were all packed.) It's hard for me to part with any fabric, but most of what I had stored was material that I never actually chose or bought. These bins contained...

Box Upcycle

For my last project in January I decided to upcycle a sturdy Target box, a piece of old velvet and a little beaded/quilted piece I neglected to do anything with last year: I hot glued everything to the top of the box, and covered the raw edges of the velvet with some vintage ribbon: This I'll use as storage for the threads, embellishments and beads that I use every month for the SCQ project:
