While I was scoring that unbelievable haul of fabric at Goodwill, I also picked up this bag of thread balls, which were in clean condition. This cotton thread is generally used for fine lace and doily crochet, but also works nicely as a cheaper substitute for #5 and #12 cotton perle embroidery thread. Can't beat the price of $5.99 for all six; they retail as much as that or more for one new ball.
I have plans to use the antique white one as is, and I'll probably save the metallic gold ball for embroidery, too, but I might try some thread dying with the others. I really want some light pink, gray and white variegated embroidery thread and I can't find the shades I want anywhere. So why not try to dye it myself? Stay tuned to see how I do.
