After Thanksgiving last month I wanted to do a small quilting project, so I picked this cheerful collection from my thrifted kits.
Once I pressed all the fabric I could see I had more than enough to make a runner for my coffee table.
I decided to edit out the green binding strip and one of the blue fabrics before I cut and pieced the top.
I also used thrifted batting and a yellow/green/orange batik that came in one of my Goodwill lots for the backing.
Although I usually use holographic Sulky on little pieces like this, I opted for the two spools of viscose I picked up at the quilt show and some hand-dyed perle thread for the embroidery. Then I changed my mind and lightly quilted the center red teapot patch with some light gold holographic Sulky, just to keep the batting from bunching.
Here's the finished runner. The binding is a bit wonky (and that's scrap binding leftover from another project) as I'm still learning how to bind by machine. But it was fun, which is all that matters.
