Adorable

The Love You Give Me is a Chinese rom-com second chance at love drama with not one but three romances, and proved that even the heavily censored and strictly g-rated series can be absorbing, charming and completely cute.

After five years of managing on her own, single mom and AI designer Min Hui (aptly protrayed by Wang Yuwen) meets up with her first love, wealthy and powerful investor Xin Qi (played by the equally talented Wang Ziqi). They have a lot of bad blood, plus Min Hui has a startling secret she's desperate to keep. In order to secure an important hospital project, however, she must persuade Xin Qi to give her company a chance. Gradually they work things out, but Xin Qi isn't a pushover, and he's also suspicious about Min Hui's little boy, Quanquan a cute four year old with a heart problem -- just like his own heart problem, in fact. Yep, Quanquan is Xin Qi's son, and this revelation changes everything.

The second chance/secret baby premise sounds cheesy, I know, but it's actually the most realistic conflict I've ever seen in a Chinese drama. Somehow they shoved aside all the usual propaganda to show the parents of this kid coming together as if it were happening in really life. It's charming, and funny, and woven with seriousness over the medical issues that works just as well. It helps that Cui Yixin, the child actor who plays Quanquan, is absolutely adorable and completely convincing, but so are the lead actors. There's an ongoing subplot about workplace sexual harrassment that was done extremely well, too. Add in two secondary romances that are just as charming, and you have a series you can't stop watching.

I have no complaints about this one, which will tell you how much I enjoyed it. Available to watch on Viki.com.
