Lemon Hunt

The next addition to our property will be a lemon tree I plan to share with my neighbor, who cooks a lot with them as I do. My guy and I have been hunting for the right kind for a while now, and went to an outdoor garden shop to see if they had any available.

Right away I was very impressed with this staghorn they had hanging from an old oak; it's about six feet tall.

The bromeliads they offered were also gorgeous.

They even had a few blackberries with fruit on them that tempted me, but I'm really holding out for the lemon. So our search continues.

Probably not the right season to look for trees. By me, everyone is discounting trees heavily since it's too hot to plant them.
Last year's killer freeze nearly took out my citrus trees. (They're potted and I put them out too soon.) I pruned them heavily and watered liberally. All but one bounced back, but no fruit from any of them. I'm hopeful they'll be back to normal next year.
