I have a couple of small jelly rolls of purple fabric from JoAnn that I auditioned as possible additional patchwork for the quilt, but the colors and patterns aren't quite compatible with the batiks. My original plan to use the black solid would make the quilt too dark (Mom really doesn't like black, probably because it reminds her of my Goth phase in high school.) My local fabric store has no compatible batiks and with shipping ordering it online would mean waiting another week or two for the fabric. So I'm now exploring alternatives from the bucket list pile to see if something else would work.
While I brooded on all this I made a little water bowl doggie mat out of the last two scrap pieces from the red vintage fabric bundle; it also helped as stitch practice for me:
You have to get up close to see the slow stitching:
Tomorrow night I hope to have something decided on Mom's quilt.
