Oliver's Birthday Quilt Part 6

Now that I have all the blocks for Oliver's birthday quilt pieced, it's time to put together the quilt top. Here's what that looks like the first time I lay out the blocks according to the pattern diagram:

It looks very modern and kinda beachy, which I like. My one change (using only white for one of the strip sets) didn't have much impact on how the negative space looks, but admittedly it was a very small alteration of the pattern. Now I give myself a day to fuss over the placement of the blocks. This is so I don't spend a week or more rearranging everything, which I will do without a time limit. Here's my first rearrangement:

There will likely be a few more changes as I look it over a few dozen times, but tomorrow I'll sew the final arrangement of blocks together to make the quilt top.
