Results Round 2

Since I didn't win any of my wannabuts last time I bid, I tried again with three new lots of brooches, yarn and embroidered linens. These are items I want to thrift but only for a set minimum price. This brooch lot is bigger and nicer than the one I just lost, so I went a little higher with a max bid of $14.00. Lately jewelry is really attracting bidders, so did I get lucky? Alas, no -- even with the higher max I was quickly outbid. The winning bid was a whopping $126.00. Since I've lost twice I think I'm going to have to use what brooches I have for the project I want to try.

For this vintage linen lot I bid $10.00 as my max. Wasn't to be mine; the winning bid was $71.00.

I doubted I would win this big yarn lot for $10.00 -- and I didn't. It went to the winner for $29.00.

Since I've lost out twice, I think I'll give up on the brooches and the embroidery, and just focusing on the yarn lots, as I still need some colors for a holiday project. Stay tuned to see what I find.

Love Means This

Invested in a couple of hand-dyed bundles from one of my favorite fabric artists. This one said "Make me into something for Valentine's Day." So I went for a quilted and embellished tote. I kept thinking about what love means to me as I worked on it. Here's the finished tote. Although I was tempted to embellish with beads and pins, I got sick and only felt well enough to do a little stitching every night. As I worked I thought about how often love seems disappointing to us, especially when it fails to live up to our expectations. But now that I've experienced love in many forms, I can say that it's made me a better person than I might have been without it. Love is a precious thing, and should be appreciated in all its forms. Progress

My guy is back home safe, sound and exhausted. I think he just realized he's over seventy now. :) I didn't finish a sewing project while he was gone, but I did make some progress on the beach bag. I've tacked down all the fabric elements on top of the old backing fabric I quilted. Time to break out the embroidery thread box and have some fun.
