Last Month

May was an interesting if not very productive month, sewing-wise. I put sleeves in two ten-foot-long garden shade cloths for our next door neighbor.

I almost finished embroidering my one pound challenge quilt.

I didn't get a lot of sewing done because I was focused on spring cleaning, and then I got sick. But somehow I was able to clean out my home office entirely. I also changed up the art on the walls by replacing my mini art quilts with prints and one slow-stitched piece by another textile artist that I put in thrifted frames.

I was pretty shocked at the nice, good quality frames I was able to get for just a buck or two at Goodwill.

I don't think I'm going to buy new frames anymore.

I also kept up with my stitch calendar project for another month. I hope I do a little better in June. Onward!

I always pick up frames at garage sales. People are so desperate to get rid of them a lot of times I find them free at the curb hoping someone will take them before trash pick up. I have plenty now but every so often I'll find an exceptional frame for a couple of dollars.

Love Means This

Invested in a couple of hand-dyed bundles from one of my favorite fabric artists. This one said "Make me into something for Valentine's Day." So I went for a quilted and embellished tote. I kept thinking about what love means to me as I worked on it. Here's the finished tote. Although I was tempted to embellish with beads and pins, I got sick and only felt well enough to do a little stitching every night. As I worked I thought about how often love seems disappointing to us, especially when it fails to live up to our expectations. But now that I've experienced love in many forms, I can say that it's made me a better person than I might have been without it. Love is a precious thing, and should be appreciated in all its forms. Progress

My guy is back home safe, sound and exhausted. I think he just realized he's over seventy now. :) I didn't finish a sewing project while he was gone, but I did make some progress on the beach bag. I've tacked down all the fabric elements on top of the old backing fabric I quilted. Time to break out the embroidery thread box and have some fun.
