My fabric lot from the Goodwill online auction arrived in a great big box; let's open it up and see if my roll of the dice paid off.
The box was new, nicely packed and stuffed with my lot. I noticed very little odor -- maybe a little bit of storage smell, but all the fabric looked quite clean. I'm super happy about that, as I won't have to launder the fabric before I use it (unless it's for a gift, then I always launder it first.)
The red and black piece I guessed was patchwork turned out to be right -- it's an interesting table runner top.
The majority of the fabric was in two to three yard pieces; a few are even bigger. There are a couple synthetics but most are cotton. I'll have to measure everything but eyeballing it I'd say about forty yards here. From what I'm seeing I'm also pretty sure now this was a quilter's stash, too.
A big pile of scrap fabric came with the yardage, most cut for patchwork and blocks -- probably about three or four quilts' worth. There's also a machine-embroidered piece that looks like the top for a bib.
I had to laugh when I found three new linen-type kitchen towels tossed in with the fabric. Maybe they were a little something extra from the seller.
Bottom line? I feel like my gamble paid off, and I would say I definitely got my money's worth.
