At the Farm

Last week my guy and I made a trip to a local farm to pick up some produce; they have a lovely little open-air market with all sorts of delicious veggies and fruits.

It's watermelon season here, and although they're a bit much for two people I had to buy one.

I didn't buy any cucumbers this trip, as we're growing our own at home, but it's always impressive to see the truckloads produced at the farms.

Here's my haul: a big bag of fresh corn, sweet potatoes, Valencia oranges and of course the watermelon. Yum!

Our farmer's market just started this past week. There wasn't too much available yet because the weather has been terrible up here. Chilly, dismal, rainy, it's rained every day this week again and while we need it, we need a little sun too. I buy watermelon about that size. Jimmy cuts the whole thing up into chunks and we store it in the fridge in a big covered bowl. Then we just snack on it for a couple days. It doesn't last long.
