Time on My Hands

I have a near-endless supply of materials for small projects to do when I take my weekly break from working on the linen quilt. This patchwork house block came from that estate lot I bought last year, and I really enjoy just hand quilting a piece like this before I make it into something (at the moment I'm thinking gift bag, as I've run out of the handmade variety.)

Then there is the lure of slightly larger projects, like this bunny patchwork project from the same lot. I love the colors and the bunnies, and with a little help from my stash it could become a lap quilt. Only I know it's something I can't finish in a day or two on my break.

It's lovely, but it will take more of my time than I'm willing to spare. So I will set that aside for now and instead quilt the house block.

Love Means This

Invested in a couple of hand-dyed bundles from one of my favorite fabric artists. This one said "Make me into something for Valentine's Day." So I went for a quilted and embellished tote. I kept thinking about what love means to me as I worked on it. Here's the finished tote. Although I was tempted to embellish with beads and pins, I got sick and only felt well enough to do a little stitching every night. As I worked I thought about how often love seems disappointing to us, especially when it fails to live up to our expectations. But now that I've experienced love in many forms, I can say that it's made me a better person than I might have been without it. Love is a precious thing, and should be appreciated in all its forms. Wild Ride

Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds is an epic, dazzling film that hurls you into the Korean version of the afterlife while showcasing some of the most impressive special effects I've ever seen in any movie.
