Stitching On

While on my break I finished the embroidery on the center furoshiki of my koi quilt.

This little guy came out best, I think. I used some of my vintage Balger thread for the fish, and it held up pretty well for thirty-odd-year-old thread.

I kept it light and just tried to accent the pretty elements where it would add rather than subtract from the visual.

Beautiful!! I'm taking in the top and back tomorrow after I buy my cotton batting, to have the border only machine quilted. I think that's going to be best for a baby quilt that's going to get a lot of washing. But I'm hand quilting the center panel and the nine patch corners. Do you use a hoop when you're hand quilting? Just curious.
