Progressing

Once I finished the patchwork on the first SCQ quilt block, I embroidered the seams:

I then started embellishing and stitching the patchwork. Rather than plan it out I'm just doing the slow stitch method, aka whatever appeals to me in the moment, using the hand-dyed threads and bits of beading and lace I have saved over the years. Here's what I have done so far:

I tried my first attempt at silk ribbon embroidery, too. Silk ribbon is as tricky as silk fabric, but I'm pleased with my first try:

The block is puckering a bit where I'm pulling too hard on the stitches, but this is one of my ongoing problems with any kind of embroidery, so I need to relax a bit more while I work. I also need to slow down. I've still got twenty-one days to finish it.

That peacock is magnificent! The whole piece is very pretty and I love the silk ribbon. I've done that in the past on several pieces. It's not hard to get the hang of it, but it is harder than silk thread.
